A female pedestrian has been killed in a road traffic accident in Thurles today.
The tragedy happened on the slievenamon road just before midday.
The victim, who was hit by an articulated lorry was in her mid 50’s and believed to be from Roscrea. Her body has been removed to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick wher a post mortem will take place.
As a result the N62 Slievenamon Road is closed at the junction with Liberty Square to allow a garda forensic collision investigation to take place and diversions are in place.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact them at Thurles Garda Station on 0504-25100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
