Labour MEP Phil Prendergast has said a delay in the jobs plan announced after the closure of Talk Talk in Waterford adds to her suspicion that the worker’s redundancy was not carried out in accordance to EU law.

The Department of Enterprise last week admitted that the South East Employment Action Plan which was due to be published on November 7 was behind schedule.

MEP Prendergast said this raises her suspicions that contrary to what a number of authorities have said; neither the workers or employment authorities were given enough time to adjust to their job losses. She has, in response submitted a 70 page report to the European Commissioner outlining her concerns about the way the redundancy was conducted.
