Dan Harty, the Sinn Féin Local Election candidate for the Thurles area has officially launched his campaign.  The event, at Hickey’s pub in Thurles, was well attended, chaired by Martin Browne TD and the guest speaker on the night was TD for Carlow / Kilkenny, the Sinn Féin candidate for the upcoming EU elections, Kathleen Funchion.

Deputy Browne warmly endorsed the candidate describing Dan Harty as one of the most genuine people he has ever met. The Tipperary TD says if the voters want to see change in Ireland they must vote for it at local as well as national level and continue through to the European Parliament Elections.

Dan Harty spoke about some of the main issues arising during his canvas citing housing, health, the rising cost of living and immigration as some of the main concerns. In particular, Mr Harty says a focus on planning and delivery of social and affordable housing locally will be a priority if elected.  In addition, Mr Harty says he will work towards having a By Pass for Thurles included in the National Development Plan(NDP) which is to be reviewed next year. Only projects included in the NDP are eligible to be funded.
