Widespread tributes to P.J. Mara R.I.P.

The former government press secretary PJ Mara has died aged 73.
Mara was well known for his work with Fianna Fáil – including managing the party to three general election victories.
He joined Fianna Fail as its press secretary in 1983 – and after four years work helped guide the party back into power in 87, then becoming government press secretary.
He was well regarded and well liked on all sides.
Former Fianna Fail Minister and Tipperary TD Michael Smith says his talents were ‘extraordinary’ while Martin Mansergh, who served as a special senior advisor to Charlie Haughey, says he has fond memories of him
