Man In His 50s Arrested In Suspicion Of The Murder Of 89 Year Old Josephine Ray

A man aged in his 50s remains in custody today after being arrested yesterday as part of the investigation surrounding the death of a woman, whose body was discovered at her residence at St Joseph’s Park, Nenagh,  on the afternoon of Sunday, 4th August last year.

The deceased woman was 89 year old Josephine “Josie” Ray, a mother of five. Two people were detained for questioning at time of her funeral last August but were released without charge.  

The man being questioned is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. 

At the time of Ms Ray’s death, the Garda Siochana Ombudsman’s Office(GSOC), now known as Fiosrú began an investigation into contact  Ms Ray had with local Gardaí in the days prior to her death.  Gardaí say they’re continuing to investigate all of the circumstances surrounding Ms Ray’s  death.
