The 2025 Famine Walk in Ballingarry, South Tipperary, will take place on July 26th. The walk will be led this year by Ballingarry native Senator Imelda Goldsboro.  The walk commemorates all those who suffered and died during the Great Famine and the Young Ireland 1848 Rising in Ballingarry.

The walk will commence at 3pm at the National Flag Monument in the Commons. The Mining Museum in the old school in the Commons will be open from  2pm until 6pm on July 26th. Visitors are also encouraged to view the Famine Rising 1848 Mural in Ballingarry village.

The Moycarkey Borris Pipe Band will lead the Walk, a distance of 2.5km, which traces the route of the 1848 Rising to the 1848 Famine Warhouse which is now under the management of the Office of Public Works. Refreshments and live music will be provided after the formal speeches and a presentation to retiring caretaker John Webster is also part of the event.
