Tipperary Racecourse, located at Limerick Junction, on the west side of Tipperary town is to hold a three-day race meeting starting today. The first race today begins at 1.50pm. On Wednesday and Thursday racing begins at just after 5pm.

Thursday will also feature Ladies day and a competition for the Best Dressed Lady – to be judged by Hayley Coleman. A day of entertainment is planned with The CJ Kickham Band and the members of the Brigid Whelan School of Dancing with live music from Alan Gubbins will round out the evening.

The event on Thursday will finish with two races over distances of  2 and 4 furlongs for members of  Pony Clubs – organised by the Scarteen Pony Club. These young jockeys will range in age from 8 to 14 years.

Tipperary Racecourse will hold it’s next race meeting on Friday August 8th and management hopes that construction work can start soon after that to build the approved and funded All Weather Race Track at the course. The will be only the second all weather track in Ireland with the other one in Dundalk. Tipperary Racecourse will retain the turf track for future racing although the construction project will disrupt racing for a period of up to 18 months.
