Tipperary Credit Union, founded in 1967, is celebrating today as the renovated building on Emmet Street, Tipperary town is officially opened By Minister of State Robert Troy.

Minister Troy lauded the effort and progressive decisions taken by the Board of Tipperary Credit Union and delivered by the staff and management including such moves as providing current accounts, online services, lending to the SME and farming sector and in particular supporting the Approved Housing Body Fund which helps fund the delivery of social housing. The Minister appealed to other credit unions to take part as he said it means investing in a societal issue and getting a good return. Tipperary Credit Union staff were praised for the trust they have earned over many years. The Minister also asked Credit Unions to engage with the Department on a new Credit Union Strategy for the coming five years which he hopes to publish before the end of the year. Tipperary Credit union was also praised for making the building more energy efficient.

The event today features an open house with the public invited to view the interior which has been upgraded to give staff and members an improved experience. The branches in Doon and Dundrum are closed today due to the event in Tipperary Town. The public are being treated to generous refreshments, teas, coffees, ice creams and free face painting with David Ryan and Adam Ryan from Arravale Rovers and Conor Martin from Cappawhite in attendance with the Munster and All Ireland U20 Hurling Trophies won in 2025 – the JJ Kenneally and James Nowlan Cups.
