Gardai Investigate Attempted Burglaries In Emly

Garda are investigating two attempted burglaries at business premises in the village of Emly overnight.

The two premises targeted were Callanans Shop and O’Donnells Engineering.

It is understood that 4 people were involved in the incidents between 4.30am and 5am this morning.   Garda were on site by 5.30am and a Garda forensic team has since visited the crime scenes. One business owner was woken to the sound of the attempted break in while the second business owner got an alarm alert when the criminals gained access.

 Both business owners say although damage was done to their doors, windows and shutters no items were stolen and no staff were on site to encounter the criminals who were wearing what one business owner describes as head to toe coverings including gloves. The culprits, believed to be teenagers, were equipped with tools to break open doors such as cutters and nail or crow bars.

Both businesses are open and trading today and say there will be a significant cost to repair their properties.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing to the public for information. Anyone who was in the Emly area of county Tipperary  between the hours of 4am and 6am and anyone who has seen a dark colored hatch back in the area at that time is asked to make 

contact with Gardaí. Anyone with mobile phone or dash cam footage is also asked to make that footage available.
