Proposed Roundabout Design For Cashel To Be Presented Next Month

Designs for a proposed roundabout on Friar Street Cashel at the Dualla Road junction are to be presented to local Councillors for discussion next month. Roads engineers will present the proposals at a Councillors Workshop to tease out the issues to be resolved and the possible options to improve the situation.

Councillor Liam Browne sought an update on the issue at yesterday’s Municipal District Council meeting and also raised concerns about the next junction on the road which links with the M8 and the roundabout in place at the new Bregawn Housing Estate.

Council engineers say they have engaged with the developer involved in the new housing Estate and  are awaiting a report back from the company about their concerns.

Councillor Browne was supported by Councillor Declan Burgess who described the Dualla road Junction as a disaster.  While he welcomed the progress on the issue, Cllr Browne stresses that parking in the area needs to be protected in any road safety solution implemented by the Council.
