Image of vehicle suspected of being used in West Tipperary this week by bogus traders
Local residents are being warned about two men offering to supply tarmac.
There have been reports of men calling to homes offering to tarmac roadways or indicating that they have tarmac left over from a job or that a pipe is not working properly and they need to get rid of the tarmac. They have called to homes in Boherlahan, Cashel, Golden, Kilfeacle, Dundrum and Bansha in recent days.
One person describes their vehicles as being a black Tucson with UK registration, with a little flashing light on front dash of car and sticker on bonnet and says the men were both dressed in Hi Vis orange and black workmen’s clothes .
Other posts on social media say the men are calling to multiple houses and are from Rathkeale in County Limerick.
The posts warn that the homeowner may think they are getting the tarmac for free but this is not the case. It is alleged that the men insist on payment and state they will be back the next day to collect if the homeowner doesn’t pay. Others have seen the men in a silver colored caddy van with a small light on the roof of the building and signage on the doors – image below shared by local community group.
