Cllr John Carroll from Fianna Fail is expected to be elected as the next Cathaoirleach of Tipperary County Council.
The AGM is due to be held in Halla na Féile on Friday morning at 11am which will see the end of Cllr Declan Burgess’s term in office. The role of Cathaoirleach is for one year and comes with an additional allowance of €30,000 per annum.
Cllr Carroll is currently a member of the Nenagh MD Council and is a member of the Local Community Development Committee, the Rural Water Monitoring Committee and the North Tipperary Food Enterprise Centre based in Rearcross.
Fianna Fail, Fine Gael and Labour agreed a voting pact after the 2024 local elections that will see the three parties control the position of Cathaoirleach for the 5 year term of the Council.
