Bansha Garda station is now open to the public after extensive renovations. The property which was originally constructed as Royal Irish Constabulary Barracks in the 1880s is a protected structure.

A Garda is assigned to the station Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm. However, there may be times when the station is closed if the Garda has to attend Court or other official duties elsewhere. Garda Aoife Gubbins is assigned to Bansha Station but no vehicle is allocated to the station. Garda Gubbins has previously served in Tipperary town for 9 years.

Members of the Public who wish to enter the station can do so by pressing an intercom buzzer.

The renovations completed last year include substantial structural stabilisation works, fire safety upgrades, universal access improvements and associated external works and new Garda Station fit-out. The Office of Public Works says as the final account has not yet been settled the cost is considered commercially sensitive at this time.

An Garda Siochana has also submitted a request to repurpose the ‘Married Quarters’ area of the building in order to provide additional workspace.  The proposed works include new offices, a meeting room and staff welfare facilities.  The tender process for these works is due to commence this year.Bansha Garda Station can be contacted by calling (062) 54141 – this line will be diverted to Tipperary town station if Bansha Station is closed. The station is located on the N24 on the Tipperary side of the village at Eircode E34 PC80.
