Tipperary Excel Centre, in Tipperary town is to host an information day next week about Fostering.
TUSLA is responsible for the provision of fostering services in Ireland at present over 3,800 carers provide foster care for over 5,000 children. The care can be respite care, a short term emergency placement or a longer placement.
June is Fostering Awareness Month and Tusla is calling on adults from all backgrounds to consider being a foster parent. Applicants must be over 25 years of age and their youngest child, if any, must be over 3 years of age. Ideally Tusla wants to be able to provide foster care close to the child’s home location so that they can continue with school, maintain friendships and their community links while in foster care. Contact TUSLA at 1 800 226 771 or view www.fostering.ie for more information.
Tipperary Excel centre is currently hosting a photographic exhibition about a day in the life of a foster care placement until June 24 and a Tusla Rep will be on hand on Tuesday June 24th between noon and 2pm to provide information about fostering.
