Blood Donation Clinics Ongoing At The Great National Hotel Ballykisteen Today & Tomorrow

Blood donation clinics are ongoing at the Great National Hotel Ballykisteen just outside Tipperary town this evening and again tomorrow. The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is appealing for donors to attend.

101 donors attended last night but appointments for this evening and tomorrow evening are well below target levels.  Blood supplies across Ireland have fallen to concerning levels. As of today the National stock of O negative blood is at 2.6 days supply while there is an average of 5 days’ supply across all blood types. The service would like to have 7 days’ stock on hand at all times.

3,000 blood donations are needed each week just to keep pace with demand from Hospitals.

Appointments can be made by calling 1 800 222 111 – appointment times are available from 4.50pm until 8.10pm. Four days of donation clinics are also planned for the Dome in Thurles next week from Monday to Thursday inclusive( 4.50pm to 8.10pm). New donors are especially invited to call 1 800 222 111 to complete the pre donation screening process.
