Scoil Chormaic in Cashel hopes to reach a target of €80,000 needed to upgrade and modify the school’s buses after two days of fundraising activities today and tomorrow.
To date €65,314 has been donated to the Go Fund Me appeal under the title “Bop for our Buses”. 478 donations have been made and any donation of any amount is welcome.
Today, Friday June 13th, the school is hosting a day of movement for staff and students with events such as dancing, running and martial arts.
On Saturday a 12 hour long Danceathon begins at 11am. All types of dancing are welcome from traditional Irish, to waltzing to disco to break dancing. Cashel Rugby Club(Eircode E25VY70) is hosting the Danceathon and a day of family friendly activities, sensory vans, gaming vans, face painting and refreshments are available throughout the day.
At 11pm a major Spin and Win event will take place with a range of very attractive prizes including vouchers for local hotels(Cashel Palace, Horse & Jockey and Talbot Clonmel) and an Irish Rugby Jersey donated by Joe McCarthy. The event on Saturday is cash only as card payments cannot be accommodated. A disco hosted by Mark Fitzell will round off the event.
The school needs to make at least one of it’s buses wheelchair accessible as three of it’s current students use wheelchairs The buses are used to take the children to swimming lessons, sports competitions, school tours and in some cases medical appointments.
The Scoil Chormaic Fundraising Committee says it is both overwhelmed and delighted at the generous response to it’s fundraising efforts.
