An appeal has been lodged with An Bord Pleanála on behalf of Mr Price operating at Bohercrowe near Tipperary town. Corajio which trades under the business name Mr Price has been involved in a long running case with Tipperary County Council Planning office.
Corajio owns the building and began a retail operation at the premises in 2021 without planning permission. An application for Retention Permission was refused by Tipperary County Council and subsequently appealed to An Bord Pleanála who supported the Council’s decision on the grounds of the zoning in place for the area.
Mr Price submitted a new planning application to the Council earlier this year accompanied by a Retail Impact Survey to support it’s case that suitable premises were not available for such a retail outlet in Tipperary town centre. The survey also presented data to make the case that the available consumer spend in the catchment area was sufficient to enable the business to trade without negatively impacting traders selling similar items. Mr Price also claims that no land zoning is in effect as the Tipperary town Development Plan has expired.
This was also refused last month by Tipperary County Council and this latest decision is now being appealed by Mr Price to An Bord Pleanála.The company is seeking permission to operate two retail units, space for staff offices and canteen facilities and signage. An Bord Pleanála indicates that it will make a decision by October 8th. It is understood that the business employs approximately 20 staff at the store.
