The Contractor on the N74 road project in Tipperary town, Glas Civil Engineering, has now fully reopened the car park at St Michaels Cemetery.

The new layout requires cars to enter on the town side and exit at the end nearer to Cashel. The markings include 3 disabled parking bays, 27 parking spots and a further possible 2 to 3 other spaces for parking.

Concerns have been expressed about the adequacy of parking space for funerals leading Cllr Anne Marie Ryan to request that the Council consider providing additional parking spaces at the location. The impact of trees and hedging material placed between the road and footpath is also being highlighted as a safety hazard for vehicles exiting the car park into oncoming traffic. Two new seats have also been installed close to the Irish Wheelchair Association building where a new pedestrian crossing will shortly be put into operation.
