A 360km cycling event has raised over €34,000 to date for the Dillon Quirke Foundation.
The event which began and ended at the Dillon Quirke GAA Grounds in Clonoulty was completed on Saturday June 7th with 20 cyclists departing Clonoulty at 4am on a route through all 6 counties in Munster before returning to a hero’s welcome on Saturday evening.
The local Raparee Cycling Club organised the event to support the charity named after the late Dillion Quirke to fund cardiac screening for children over the age of 12 in sports clubs across Ireland.
The organisers say the iDonate page will remain open for a few weeks to optimise the fundraising under the title Munster 360 Ultra Endurance.
Dillion Quirke died aged 24 in 2022 while playing in a hurling match at Semple stadium after suffering a cardiac incident.
The foundation aims to prevent other families from experiencing such a loss.
