One of the poles that forms part of the pedestrian crossing on Station Road in Tipperary town was destroyed over the weekend after being struck by a vehicle.

Garda in Tipperary town station have not received any reports about the incident but are asking for help in tracing the driver or drivers involved. Garda are unaware if there were any injuries in the collision.
The box with the electronic controls, the solar panel and the support pole were smashed by a dark coloured vehicle sometime between 8pm on Sunday night and yesterday morning. Debris is on the roadway and footpath. It is expected that Tipperary County Council staff will clear the material today and the taxpayer will have to fund the cost of repairs.
