Two Councillors in West Tipperary have hit out at the removal of life buoys from the banks of the river Suir in Golden.
Cllrs Liam Browne and Declan Burgess are reminding the public that the equipment could save a life in the event of an emergency. Cllr Burgess says it is extremely disappointing that one of the lifebuoys and safety boxes recently replaced by Tipperary County Council has already gone missing again. The theft or abuse of the equipment is “totally unacceptable and frankly disgraceful” according to Cllr burgess.
The Cllr adds that this “kind of vandalism is not just thoughtless — it’s dangerous” and he is calling for anyone with any information to contact the Gardai and asks that the equipment is respected and left to be available when it’s needed most.
Cllr Liam Browne describes the actions of those removing the life buoys as “Idiotic dangerous behavior that needs to stop immediately”.
