Cllr. John O’Heney Has Raised Road Safety Concerns In Respect Of St. Patrick’s Avenue

Road Safety concerns in respect of St Patrick’s Avenue in Tipperary Town have been raised by Cllr John O’Heney.

The Councillor says the road operates as a one-way system adjacent to the Monastery Primary School with many families concerned with the speed of the traffic on a daily basis. In response to the Councillor’s motion calling for measures such as speed ramps and additional signage the Council says that the enforcement of the speed limits is a matter for An Garda Siochana.

The council will, however,  ask the Gardaí to carry out a Speed Survey on the Avenue and, if a speeding issue is identified, proposals in line with the Council’s Traffic Calming Policy will be developed. Funding will then be requested under the Low Cost Safety Scheme to deliver traffic calming measures that may be deemed necessary.
