Six Tipperary Camogie Board Delegates to attend the Special Congress Regarding Skorts Rule Change

422

Six Delegates from the Tipperary Camogie board are expected to attend the Special Congress at Croke Park in Dublin this evening to consider a rule change that would give players the choice of wearing shorts or skorts.

The proposed change would allow individual players  to choose to wear skirt/skort/divided skirt/shorts on an individual basis, with no requirement to wear the same item as other players in the team, as long as they are the same colour and similar design.

The number of delegates per county depends on the number of clubs in the county; there are  39 camogie clubs in County Tipperary. Delegates must be aged 18 years or over  – counties with up to 14 clubs can send two delegates, counties with  15 to 30 clubs can send  4 delegates, and counties with more than 31 clubs send 6 delegates. In addition there are 2 delegates representing Comhairle Chamogaioochta um ArdOideachais and the  International boards will each send 2 delegates

The special congress is due to start at 7.30pm and will consider the motion put forward by the Ard Chomhairle. A two thirds majority of voting delegates is required for a rule change.

The Association has previously indicated that if the rule change is approved. it will come into effect from Saturday May 24th.
