Met Eireann says a Status Yellow thunderstorm warning is in place for counties Tipperary and Limerick along with counties Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Wicklow, Clare, and Galway.
Met Eireann is forecasting scattered thunderstorms today that could cause spot flooding and lightning damage.
The warning, which was issued at 11am today, is in effect until 8pm this evening.
A number of short electrical outages were caused yesterday when a thunderstorm passed overhead Tipperary.
ESB Networks post updates about outages on their website www.powercheck.ie Any damaged or fallen wires should be reported to the company by calling 1 800 372 999. The company is reminding the public that outages are only displayed on the website when 10 separate accounts are involved and that customers that do not see details of a fault in their area at a time when they have lost power should call 1 800 372 999 to report the fault. Customers will be asked to provide the MPRN number which is displayed on their bill.
There is a planned outage today in the Kilross area for planned maintenance works that affects 30 customers. Power is to be restored to these customers by 4pm today.
