The Canon Hayes Recreation Centre in Tipperary town is one of a number of organisations based in county Tipperary to secure funding today as part of a €4M fund provided by the Dormant Accounts Fund for the scheme known as the Growing Social Enterprise Scheme.
The Canon Hayes Centre is allocated €11,600 which is to be used to install an electronic access system for customers, an IT system to accommodate the new system and new fire safety doors.
Funding was also allocated to Cloughjordan Community farm with €15,000 to go towards creating a soil preparation and management guide for community farms, Moyne Community Café is allocated €11,315 to fund the purchase of catering equipment, Newport Development Association is allocated €3,885 to fund the purchase a projector and screen, upgrade the light and sound system and help towards the purchase of a pallet truck and the Millennium Family Resource centre in Glengoole is allocated €45,007 to fund the purchase of a new electric van and charging station to provide a laundry service for service users.
In total 42 Social Enterprises will receive funding of between €15,000 and €100,000 and 83 Social Enterprises will receive funding of between €1,500 and €15,000 as there were two categories of grants available.
