District Community Safety Committee Meeting To Be Held By Thurles Templemore MD Councillors

Thurles Templemore MD Councillors will attend a meeting of the District Community Safety Committee Meeting on Monday at 9.30am to be followed by the May meeting of the Municipal District Council.

The national Roll out of new County Wide Community Safety Partnerships intended to replace the Joint Policing Committee structure is stalled as the Government is yet to finalise the regulations regarding the membership of Community Safety Partnerships. The membership is to be significantly expanded to include all local state agencies such as the HSE, Tusla in addition to representatives from An Garda Siochana, the farming, business and community sectors along with  elected public representatives.

The last Meeting of the Tipperary Joint Policing Committee over a year ago. Former Tipperary TD Noel Coonan has been appointed to chair the County Tipperary Local Community Safety Partnership(LCSP) in a voluntary unpaid position.   

The Meeting Agenda includes the new Thurles Town Pollinator Plan and Grass Mowing Plan, a new Thurles MD Back Lanes scheme, consideration of a date for the AGM. Cllr Michael Smith is the current Cathaoirleach.

Officials from the Council’s Environment and Climate action section will be present as will a representative from the Local Authorities Waters Programme known as LAWPRO – this organisation has been tasked with developing a new plan for the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the River Suir in the Thurles area.
