Planning permission for a Single Storey Drive Thru McDonalds restaurant in Thurles has been appealed to An Bord Pleanála. The proposed restaurant is intended for a site in Clongour in Thurles adjacent to the N62 and the planned Thurles Inner Relief Road. Submissions on the appeal can be made up to June 4th at a cost of €50.
It is understood that the appeal raises concerns about the impact on the residential nature of the area, traffic congestion, pedestrian safety, biodiversity and the adjacent River Walk. Tipperary County Council granted permission last month with 15 conditions attached including restricting operating hours to the period between 6am to 10pm instead of the 24-hour permission sought by the applicant.
