The community in Aherlow Kilross is to launch a Biodiversity Action plan.

The strategy to support nature was developed with funding support from the Community Foundation of Ireland and was led by Dr Mary Tubridy.

The plan will be launched on Wednesday May 14th by Dr Liam Lysaght, CEO of the National Biodiversity Data Centre based in Waterford.

The launch event on May 14th will start with a Nature walk from Christ the King Statue scheduled to start at 6.30pm, followed by official launch and refreshments in Lisvernane Community Centre at 8pm.

The organisers say all are welcome to attend.

The Dáil passed a motion in 2019 declaring a Biodiversity crisis as a number of species of animals and plants are facing pressures causing a decline in numbers which the Action Plan will seek to address in the local community.
