Reports Indicating Planned Closure of Cashel Courthouse

A Fine Gael councillor says they are opposed to the closure of the Cashel Courthouse.

Declan Burgess comments follow recent reports indicating the planned closure of the facility this autumn and the removal of services and their relocation to Clonmel.

The Cashel based councillor says this decision is a serious mistake and it represents a short-sighted move to centralise services without considering the negative impact on the town and its surrounding communities.

Cllr Burgess has urgently contacted the Court Services and has also made formal representations to the Minister for Justice, Jim O’Callaghan.
