Camogie Association are to be invited to the Oireachtas Sports Committee by the Chair Alan Kelly TD to discuss the policy on the mandatory wearing of skorts during games.
It follows a protest from players ahead of the Leinster Championship semi-final Dublin v Kilkenny over the weekend where players wore shorts but were told they had to change into skorts or the game would have to be abandoned.
The local Labour Party TD believes the rule forcing camogie players to wear skorts is outdated and beggars belief when we should be working to encourage more woman to participate in sports.
A recent survey carried out by GPA shows 70% of inter-county camogie players find skorts uncomfortable, and over 80% want the right to choose between wearing skorts and shorts.
