Tipperary Racecourse will see a return of horse racing today for the 2025 season.
The track is due to be expanded with the addition of an All Weather Racecourse. Work on the new track is expected to commence at some stage this year however the contract has not been signed as of now and Horse Racing Ireland says it hopes to make an announcement about the project next month.
Once construction starts racing meetings scheduled for Tipperary Racecourse will be held at alternative racecourses. The project is expected to cost €18M and will be only the second All Weather Racecourse in Ireland – as the other one is located in Dundalk.
The Tipperary All Weather Track is expected to be extremely beneficial to the Equine industry in the South of the country. Once opened the venue will host 31 meetings per year instead of the present 11 meetings and it is expected that the venue may host a range of entertainment activities outside of racing events.Today’s season opener features 7 flat races with the first race due off at 3.52pm. The gates will open approximately 2 hours before the first race.
