The Cathaoirleach of Tipperary County Council, Councillor Declan Burgess is expressing condolences on the death of His Holiness Pope Francis on behalf of the people of Tipperary. The Pope died early on Monday April 21st due to complications following a stroke. He was 88.
Books of Condolence will open at each Civic and Municipal District Office in Tipperary from 9.30am on Friday 25th April 2025 and will remain open for one week
A book of Condolence will also be available online at www.tipperarycoco.ie from Friday 25th April 2025.
An Post today confirmed that the company will deliver a Mass or sympathy card free-of-charge to the Vatican.
Cards may be posted to a dedicated PO Box until May 14th and An Post will ensure they are delivered directly to the Holy See. The address to use is PO Box 13812, FREEPOST, Dublin 1.
A Requiem Mass for the Pope will take place in the Cathedral of the Assumption, Thurles at 11am on Friday. Archbishop Kieran O’Reilly will be the main celebrant of the Mass.
The Pope is to lie in state in St Peter’s Basilica until 8pm tomorrow night and his Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday morning at 10am local time in Rome.
