Aherlow Community Council is calling on members of the community to attend a meeting this evening at 7pm. The meeting is focused on ideas to enhance the local community for residents and to improve the promotion of the area to visitors. Individuals, groups and clubs and businesses are invited to attend and possibly join the committee. The meeting will be held in the Aherlow Tourist office (E34 E862) at 7pm.
The council is linking with others to run events and provide services in Bansha at Templeneiry Church such as concerts and exercise classes, events in the Lisvernane Community Centre and outdoor events such as the Glen 5km and the Winter Walking Festival.
A new feature introduced last year is the Pilgrim’s Walk Holistic Way. The 2025 Pilgrim’s Walk 2025 will take place on May 4th and is a social, easy paced walk that might take 4 – 5 hours to complete. Walkers should bring a lunch with them – refreshments will be provided in Galbally Community Centre at the conclusion of the walk which is mostly along trails with a small portion on roads near Christ the King Statute.
The walk will start at Clonbeg Church, which will be open to visit, at approximately 10am. St Sedna’s well is situated to the rear of the Memorial Church. Registration for the walk is in Galbally Community Centre at 9am and walkers will be transferred by bus to Clonbeg for the walk to Moore Abbey near Galbally which will be via Christ the King, Rock on Tarbh Mass Rock, Shrough Dolmen and Giants Grave – an ancient burial site. Places can be booked on the Aherlow.com website at this link here.
