Paws Animal Rescue Shelter Reports Positive Outlook As Fundraising Continues Following Near Closure

The Paws Animal Rescue Shelter in Mullinahone reports a more positive outlook for the shelter which was in danger of having to close due to compliance issues regarding water and waste disposal.

Tipperary County Council had issued a Section 12 declaration that required the operator to upgrade the method by which it disposed of waste water and also how the bedding and dog foul waste was managed. Yesterday the Council’s staff met on site with a building contractor to work out what works are required to make the centre compliant. The owner, Gina Hetherington, says  the Council will also have an engineer investigate  the water levels on the site which is adjacent to lands that are flooded due to water from the River Anner exceeding the river banks.

An agreed programme of works is to be compiled by early May with work to commence in June. It is estimated that the works could take up to a year to complete with the first phase focused on the land drainage issue. The entire project could cost between €80,000 and €90,000 to completion and PAWS Animal Rescue  will now continue with fundraising for the project –   to date over €6,000 has been raised by a Go Fund Me page available at this link   here.
