Scoil Chormaic in Cashel is embarking on a major fundraising effort to upgrade their current fleet of 4 school buses and to ensure that at least one of the vehicles is fully wheelchair accessible. The target is to raise €80,000.
The school caters for 217 students at present from all across county Tipperary and even from outside the county. The buses are used for trips to sports events, to swimming classes which may be part of a child’s Occupational Therapy and at times the buses might be used to help a family bring a child to a medical appointment.
While the school welcomes donations at any time the upcoming event will feature two events in June with a major focus on dancing. In addition, a Go Fund Me Page has now been launched – titled “Bop for Our Buses”. On June 13th the school, situated on the Golden road, will host a Celebration of Movement showcasing dance and all types of movement. On June 14th, the main public part of “Bop for Our Buses” will take place at Cashel Rugby Club. The aim is to have the dance floor active from 11am until 11pm with all types of dancing welcome from waltzing to hip hop to traditional Irish. The organisers led by Siobhan O’Brien, Chair of the Fundraising committee, are also seeking spot prizes along with dancers on the day that will seek sponsorship in advance of June 14th for their dancing efforts to support the school.
Sponsorship cards are available from the School – or call Siobhan O’Brien on 087 9844925 or Evelyn Nevin in the Knockanrawley Resource Centre on 083 3000639.
