
Tipperary Education & Training Board (TETB) received two awards at the ETB Excellence Awards held in Croke Park recently.
The Chairperson of Tipperary ETB and new President of ETB Ireland, Cllr Roger Kennedy addressed the capacity crowd and welcomed Minister James Lawless to the event. The 2025 runner-up award for Excellence In Community went to the Social Therapudic and Horticulture Programme, Substance Misuse Service in Clonmel for their work with participants on a postage stamp garden to build confidence, learn new skills, planting and producing fresh produce. Funded by Tipperary ETB, the Social Therapeutic and Horticulture Programme in Clonmel uses gardening, floristry and other plant-based activities to support service users of the HSE Ireland Substance Misuse Service with their recovery.
Meanwhile, the Communities of Practice Excellence in Education team, including representation from Tipperary’s post-primary schools, claimed a Highly Commended award in the Excellence in Education Award.
Ireland’s sixteen Education and Training Boards are the leading State providers of education and training in Ireland in 30 Community National Schools and 250 post primary schools with over 117,000 students. ETBs also deliver Further Education and Training to over 226,000 FET learners each year across in over 500 learner locations and play a central role in the delivery of apprenticeships and traineeships in partnership with employers. ETBs also support, monitor, and deliver youth services. The ETB Sector employs over 32,000 people and has a combined annual spend in excess of €2bn.
