Plans To Remodel Cahir SuperValu Junction With Tipperary County Council’s Active Travel Team

Plans to remodel the SuperValu junction in Cahir are with Tipperary County Council’s Active Travel Team at present.

The proposal is to introduce a roundabout at the junction to improve the flow of traffic. The busy town centre junction links the N24 route with the R639 route leading onto Castle Street – however as Cahir is bypassed most traffic on national routes does not enter the town centre which is to be significantly revamped in the very near future.

Cllr Andy Moloney says the project is a standalone project not linked to works on the N24 (Cahir towards Limerick Project) and that achieving the correct design is vital to avoid negative impacts for the town centre traffic.

Tipperary County Council hope to run a trial of a roundabout at the junction later this month before any permanent construction works are carried out according to a response given to Cllr Mairin McGrath  at this month’s Municipal District meeting.
