Road design experts at ARUP consulting currently working on the design of the N24 Cahir towards Limerick road project are to present a further design update in approximately 8 weeks. This will be the most detailed briefing to date and will show the proposed road and structures such as junctions along the whole route.
The design of the active travel and road component are still under consideration by the Design Team as part of their ongoing design development for the Project. The project was allocated €2.5M last week to complete this phase. Additional funding will be required to purchase lands for the new roads and for the construction costs.
The Project is on schedule to complete Phase 3 – Design and Environmental Evaluation – by the end of 2025 which means the planning application will be ready to go to An Bord Pleanála in 2026. This application will detail the lands to be acquired by Compulsory Purchase Order to deliver the project.
The 37 Km Route from the M8 north of Cahir to a point in Limerick west of Brooks Bridge will deliver upgrades to part of the existing N24 and also include the construction of new roadways that will Bypass Bansha, Tipperary town, Limerick Junction, Monard and Oola. Full details for the project are available on the website n24cahirlimerick.ie at this link here.
