Deputy Michael Lowry is welcoming funding in excess of €9 million for roads across the county allocated to Tipperary County Council. Projects in North Tipperary include €300,000 for the Liberty Square Realignment work in Thurles, €60,000 for Slievenamon Road in Thurles, €45,000 for Turtulla Cross, south of Thurles, €150,000 for Carrigahorig Pavement work, €20,000 for the N52 in Ballingarry and €45,000 for work on the N62 in Roscrea.
€2.5m of the funding will complete the design of the N24 Cahir towards Limerick upgrade including the Tipperary town the Bypass according to Cllr Anne Marie Ryan. Although the project also includes effectively a Bypass for each of Bansha, Tipperary town, Limerick Junction, Monard and Oola, the portion around Tipperary town could be delivered separately if a funding shortage for land purchase and road construction was to emerge. The design team is to publish a final update in the coming weeks. The project team can be contacted at 061 951 000 or via email to [email protected] .
South Tipperary was a major beneficiary of the National Roads Funding announced on Friday with €2.3M going towards the N24/N74 Cashel road project which is almost completed and €1,865,000 towards works on the N24 Knockagh pavement upgrades. Smaller allocations of €110,000 for works at Ballyhusty, €62,000 for works at Kilfeacle junction and €35,000 for Barronstown Cross are also included in the overall allocation of €9,026,043 to Tipperary.
