The Public Meeting planned for Thurles tomorrow night regarding plans for a IPAS Accommodation Centre in the town has been postponed until next week. Cllr Jim Ryan is hosting the meeting which will now take place on Thursday March 27th at 7.30pm in the Anner Hotel Ballroom.

Mr Ryan has invited the Government official that signed a letter to the developer expressing interest in the property to the meeting alongside the representatives of Meitheal Architects in Cork who produced the plans for the facility. In addition, Cllr Ryan, has asked Meitheal Architects to contact and forward an invitation to the Developer Kilbrin Homes to attend the meeting. The councillor hopes that by giving a week’s notice the invitees may be able to attend.

The project secured a Section Five declaration from Tipperary County Council on March 12th  that clarifies that the building works to modify the former Furniture Store and adjacent Warehouse does not need planning permission under the current legislation due to amendments made in 2022.

The plans submitted to the Council indicate that the facility would have 15 bedrooms accommodating from three  to seven persons giving a total capacity of eighty one persons.
