Glen of Aherlow Failte Society To Host Meeting To Discuss Future Plans To Enhance The Area

The Glen of Aherlow Failte Society is inviting local people, groups and business to attend a meeting at 7pm tomorrow (Wednesday March 19th) evening to discuss future plans to enhance and promote the area especially for tourism purposes. The meeting will take place in the Aherlow tourist office(Eircode E34 E862) and refreshments will be provided.

The Aherlow Failte Society is supported by one full time person and manages a Community Employment scheme with 25 participants to benefit the local community. The participants undertook huge work in the clean up after the recent severe weather and regularly maintains the trails in the Nature Park.  The Aherlow Failte Society also supports Bansha, Lisvernane, Emly and Rossadrehid villages with scheme participants as well as running the Winter Walking Festival and the monthly Club Cheoil sessions in pubs in the Glen and Tipperary town – all aimed at promoting the area for tourists but also creating community events for local people including the Glen 5km run.The Glen of Aherlow, considered to be county Tipperary’s most attractive and scenic holiday destination, is a lush valley where the River Aherlow runs between the Galtee Mountains and the wooded ridge of Slievenamuck bounded by the rural villages of Bansha and Galbally.
