The operators of a local business involved in a Planning Enforcement case with Tipperary County Council are to make a further planning application for retention.
The “Mr Price” retail outlet at Bohercrowe, outside Tipperary town was refused retention permission by An Bord Pleanála in late 2024. Corajio trading as “Mr. Price” had opened without planning permission and Tipperary County Council Planning office refused to grant retention permission in 2023. The council investigated activities at the site when a pop up shop traded in an adjacent unit of the building, which is mostly vacant, in late 2022.
The latest application is for retention in respect of units one and two of the building as a shop for the retail sale of goods. The applicant may be hoping that the council would be willing to make an exception to allow the business to continue in operation.
The remaining vacant units ranging in size from 713 to 4293 sq. metres are currently vacant and available to let with Lavelle Property Agents.
The business which employs over 20 staff operates in a premises that is zoned “to provide for light industry and employment and related uses.” Under the land use zoning rules, a shop and supermarket are explicitly not permitted on this land use zone. The company has previously stated that a suitable premises in Tipperary town that could facilitate delivery vehicles is not available.
