The community is being asked to support a Bake sale in the Acquired Brain Injury Bookshop in Cashel tomorrow – Friday March 14th.

Approximately 120,000 people in Ireland are living with a disability after a brain injury with 19,000 new brain injuries happening annually.

According to the ABI Ireland 2023 Annual Report these injuries are caused by a number of different reasons –   50% due to Stroke, 11 % due to Falls, 10% due to Tumours, 9% due to Road Traffic Collisions and 5% due to assaults.

This is National Brain Awareness Week and the charity is hoping to create awareness of its services across the country.

The Bookshop on Friar Street in Cashel will commence the Bake sale at 10am and highlights that the retail outlet is important not just for raising revenue but also provides meaningful vocational rehab and social engagement for people recovering from Brain Injury.  It allows services users to learn new skills and increase their confidence in a work type environment and in the community.  The shop is also the only bookshop in Cashel.Further information about Acquired Brain Injury Ireland can be found on their website abiIreland.ie and on all six of the main social media channels.
