Tipperary town woman Alison Fogarty is continuing with her 180km walk today to raise awareness for organ donation and to raise funds for the Irish Kidney Association. Alison says she is overwhelmed and appreciative of the good will and positivity towards her efforts.
The public are welcome to join Alison tomorrow in Cashel for the final stage and asked to consider making a donation to the idonate page where almost €8,000 has been raised to date for the Irish Kidney Association – available at this link here. This will remain open until April 21st.
Today Alison will travel by train to Dublin, visit Beaumont Hospital where she had a life changing kidney transplant one year ago that ended 9 years of dialysis treatment. The walk is also a gesture of gratitude towards the two people that donated kidneys to Alison over a ten-year period.
The walk finale in Cashel begins at the Golden Road Roundabout and will progress through the town centre to the Rock of Cashel at approximately 5pm this evening. To mark World Kidney Day the Rock of Cashel will be lit up in purple. Alison is also updating a special Facebook page about her walk titled “My Journey to Beaumont.”
