The group in Dundrum opposing the creation of an IPAS centre at Dundrum House Hotel are to seek a Court Injunction to prevent the signing of a contract between the Government and a new operator.
Councillors were informed on Monday that the contract signing was imminent despite confusion over how it will be managed at Government level as the Migration Unit is to be moved from the Department of Children to the Department of Justice and both Ministers are travelling for St Patrick’s Day events. It is understood that a Minister does not have to sign the contract as this can be done by an official.
The Group are also taking a legal action seeking a Judicial Review of the decision by Tipperary County Council to grant a Section Five Declaration to Brogan Capital Ventures in January which confirmed that under current legislation the creation of an IPAS centre did not require planning permission.
Councillors at Monday’s meeting asked that the Government would pause any contract until another legal action in the High court is concluded as to who is the beneficial owner of Dundrum House Hotel – the current operator or US investors. This case is due to be heard in late April.
