Two events in Tipperary town on Friday and Saturday have raised more than €4,000 for charity.
A social hurling tournament at The Abbey School on Saturday raised €2,500 with the funds to be used for repairs to delivery van used by the local Meals on Wheels service. The repairs cost €6,700 and a GoFundMe page will remain open until March 9th for donations The GoFundMe Page is called Meals on Wheels Tipperary town and is available at this link here.
The second event raised €1,740 and launched the Tipperary Town Daffodil day in aid of the Irish Cancer Society(ICS). The Daffodil day will take place on Friday March 28th and is a vital fundraising effort for the Irish Cancer Society. The local volunteers held a coffee morning and raffle on Friday last to launch the event and are looking forward to public support on March 28th.
The group, led by Kathleen Dalton and Greta English will gratefully accept donations of fresh daffodils closer to the event and also welcome volunteers to help sell the fresh and silk flowers and ICS merchandise on March 28th. A monster raffle was held on Friday and the top six prizes were won by Mairead Richardson, Julie Knobel, Linda Reilly, Susan Hogan, Amy Davern, Teresa Slattery and Caroline Hosford. The organisers are grateful to everyone that donated prizes or supported the event.
