Gardaí from the Tipperary Roads policing unit seized 3 cars at a Mandatory Intoxicant Checkpoint in Newport yesterday. One driver was unaccompanied and failed a roadside drug wipe test and was arrested and brought to Nenagh Garda Station where a blood sample has been taken and sent for analysis. A number of Fixed Charge Notices were issued for other road traffic offences.
The seizures follow another seizure over the weekend when Garda stopped a car and found that the vehicle’s tax had expired almost 2 years ago, the NCT expired in 2023, the driver was an unaccompanied learner driver and had failed to display L Plates on the car. The Driver will now face a future court date.
