Rock Of Cashel To See Investment As Part Of Failte Ireland’s 2025 Plans For Ireland’s Ancient East

The Rock of Cashel is to see investment as part of Failte Ireland’s 2025 plans for Ireland’s Ancient East.

Failte Ireland markets Ireland abroad under four main products, Dublin, Irelands Ancient East – the area outside Dublin, Irelands Hidden heartlands –  the midlands counties and the fourth product is the Wild Atlantic Way taking in the coastal areas from Cork to Donegal.

Key priorities in 2025 will focus on delivering a strong pipeline of tourism product to attract visitors to the region, motivating them to stay longer and explore further and also delivering a robust range of practical supports to help tourism businesses tackle some of the immediate challenges and opportunities facing the sector.

Enhancements at the Rock of Cashel will include improving visitor flow and experience through the Vicar’s Choral and developing exterior interpretative elements. This project is expected to be completed in 2027. In 2023, the most recent full year for which visitors’ numbers are available shows that 357,273 paying visitors entered the historic site.

Tipperary County Council, the Office of Public Works and Failte Ireland are working on marketing Cashel town as a new destination town. Efforts over several years to provide a new Visitor Centre as an attraction in the town centre have so far failed to find a suitable building or site.
