Major Road Works To Begin On A Tipperary Town Roundabout

1552

Major Road works are to begin at the Bansha Roundabout in Tipperary town on Monday March 3rd which will see the junction becoming a T-Junction instead of operating as a Roundabout. The changes will be in place until April 11th

The road works are part of the larger N74 project on the Cashel Road which extends onto the N24 (Main Street) as far as Lidl – the overall project is due to be completed by October 2025 – possibly earlier.

This construction work at the roundabout will involve changes to underground piping, new ducting, new kerbing, and footpath replacement works in a series of phases and road re-surfacing works.

The junction will revert to a roundabout configuration upon completion of the works.

A two way traffic light system will be installed at the junction for the duration of the works and Fr Mathew Street will remain one-way in the Cashel direction. Traffic signals for the two-way traffic light system will be operated manually during working hours Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 6.00pm. Working hours will likely extend to 7.00pm when daylight allows.

Flagmen/manual control of the temporary traffic signals will also be provided on each Saturday for the duration of the works between the hours of 9.00am and 6.00pm. Each Sunday, for the duration of the works, the temporary traffic signals will operate on a timed basis.

The council says the traffic will be monitored during the works and if excessive congestion or disruption occurs an alternative method of traffic management will be employed.

Traffic management may be removed for weekends, but only if it is safe to do so, as discussed with An Garda Síochána.

Tipperary County Council apologises for any inconvenience and thanks the public for their co-operation and patience while these “essential works” are being carried out – full project details are available on the project website www.n74tipperarytown.ie
