Cahir town centre, the Rosemount estate and customers of Uisce Éireann on the Tipperary road area of Cahir are expected to be without water until at least lunchtime today after a mains pipe burst yesterday.
Councillor Andy Moloney says it could be lunchtime before supply is restored as a 30 foot long piece of piping is to be replaced.
Contractors for Uisce Éireann are expected to be on site as of early this morning but the councillor says it will be mid-day before water returns. The Independent Councillor expects the town centre will be restored first, around noon, because of the gravity flow and then Rosemount Estate and higher areas later at approximately 2 to 3pm.
Uisce Éireann is yet to post any update on the company website water.ie (as of 8am) but does offer a free text alert service to notify customers of outages that are planned or unplanned and will last for more than four hours. Customers can register for the service by entering their Eircode and mobile phone number on the website water.ie. Uisce Éireann’s customer support team can be contacted at 1800 278 278.
